Who am I?

Criminal tendencies in print

I write therefore I am. Usually in the mornings, usually in a cupboard, a nice boring cupboard where the computer lives and where in theory I have no distractions. That is the theory.

Aiming to be published as a novelist, to be a more adventurous artist, stylishly minimalist and thin.

I gave up full time work about six years ago. Used to have a retail art and craft supplies shop, but it was very busy and it stopped me doing the things I wanted to do. Now I work part time making felt – hats, scarves, throws, bootees, that sort of thing – I don’t sell much, just enough to keep going!  But it leaves me head space for writing, which has always been my first love.

Pat at https://patwoodblogging.wordpress.com – blogging daily (at the moment) on writing, fiction, life, the universe and everything, with occasional snippets from stories and the odd poem. If I miss a day, then I apologise, but it means I am travelling and have no wifi available to post.

Awards and Fluffy Moments: — Fluffy Moments

If you would like to read the first chapters of my novel Clean Death, I am publishing it as I edit on a sister blog where your comments are welcome and may change my attitude to editing (or to the story as a whole!)

Thank you for reading. I hope you like what you find here and to see you again very soon.

  1. Hi Pat,

    • Anne, that is very kind of you and of course I accept, though it may take me a while to get organised on this because (shame on me) I have a Liebster Award that I have done nothing about.
But I am honoured and delighted and so pleased that you think my blog is thought provoking enough for this.
      Thank you very much.
Incidentally I read your book (well done you), but have not yet posted a review. I will do that, I promise.

      • Many thanks, Pat. It’s not a problem at all – I know how these things mount up. You definitely write one of my favourite feel-good blogs so I’m more than happy to nominate you.

Incidentally, thank you for your own nomination which (shame on me too) I still haven’t got around to looking at. I appreciate your kind thought though.

As for the review, that would be great if you ever get a spare moment – thank you! 🙂

  2. Pat, thank you for stopping by my blog today and following. I look forward to following your writing activities in a variety of different areas.

    Take care,

    Ivon

  4. You are being showered with awards. Very deservedly so!! Well done!!

    • Very embarrassing, but delighted and flattered. Not at all sure what I’ve done to deserve any of this acclaim, but very pleased to be honoured.
Thank you for your kind words. 🙂

Hi Pat! I am showering you with another award. If you’ve already received it recently don’t feel you have to do it again. Just wanted to let you know. It’s for The Booker Award. Check my blog post about it for details if you want. 🙂

  6. Good morning, Pat. 🙂 You’ve been tagged you in The Next Big Thing blog hop. http://wp.me/p1H9Iw-bE BTW, love the pics of the shop!

    • Sounds wonderful, thank you very much – but not sure what it
means? Will pop over and have a look.
And thank you – glad you like the photos. Pop Up shop lasts until Wednesday evening, then pops down again. 🙂
      Thanks again.

  7. Hi Pat – First thank you for reading my post. Just goes to show you that inspiration can come from anywhere – even from a creep. I think you and I have some writing ambitions in common. I find your blog inspirational and i am going to follow you for more.

    • Glad you’ve enjoyed reading my blog. Enjoyed yours too. Weirdly I have lost the link to you and can’t find you again. Can you let me have a link so I can come back?

  8. Hi Pat,

  9. Hi Pat – lovely to discover your blog – and to find another writer who writes in a cupboard! (Well, I used to in a previous house). I even wrote a short piece about it for Creatabot

Writing in a Cupboard – by Jane Ayres

    I found it very productive!

    • Hmm, not sure it’s as productive for me as I would like it to be. It isn’t all that comfortable. I keep changing the chair, but it doesn’t seem to be working very well.
Would rather write in my summer house, but it’s getting very chilly out there now!
Nice to see you. Thank you for popping in. Feel free to put the kettle, raid the biscuit tin and curl up for a while with a short story or two. 🙂

  10. Hi Pat, thanks for nominating me and visiting my blog. Awful confession time: I haven’t written anything for my blog for ages. Excuses: too much work and studying an MA in Creative Writing. Sadly, though, it means I haven’t been reading nearly as much as I used to, as anything I read has to be course related, and I am missing all the new novels that are coming out!

    • I am terrible at picking up on the new novels – was looking forward to some guidance! Never mind. Do what you can, when you can, if you can and when you want to. Not supposed to be a hassle – just a bit of fun. 🙂

  11. Pat – I have just nominated you (back) for the Blog of the Year award 2012. Check out the details at http://andrewtoynbee.wordpress.com

    • I just spotted this as I was writing my post today – on the Blog of the Year!! So I have joined my new star to the post. Thank you very much. 😀

  12. Hi Pat. I’ve tagged you in the Next Big Thing blog hop. I’m sure you’ve been tagged already, so on the plus side, it saves you having to do anything 😉

    • That’s very kind of you. I am very honoured – actually I have been tagged already but I will probably do it anyway. Thanks again. I will pop over and see your Next Big Thing. 🙂

  13. Pat
I’ve just tagged you in ‘a little game’ – see http://andrewtoynbee.wordpress.com/ for the rules. 😀

  14. Pat
